Earlier this week, the Goiás Public Ministry announced that six games played by the Brasileirão last season are being investigated for match-fixing.

Nine players from different teams are being investigated and questioned about game situations where match-fixing is suspected to have occurred. Among players, businessmen and various suspects, several homes and offices in 16 cities throughout the country were raided.

The players who are being investigated by the courts are: Victor Ramos from Chapecoense, the Argentine central defender Kevin Lomónaco from Red Bull Bragantino, Igor Cariús from Sport Club do Recife, Gabriel Tota from the former Juventude currently at Ypiranga. The rest of the names have not yet been revealed and are handled with great reserve.

According to what Globo reports, the researchers affirm that the bookmakers are linked to this and not only the results, but also yellow cards, number of corners, etc. So there are several factors to take into account. According to sources, they affirm that the payments would be between US$10,000 and US$20,000.

Initially, the investigation focused on three parties, but today the number has risen to six and a total of 11 are being investigated. In any case, the fact that even more games can be added under the magnifying glass is not ruled out, it is believed that the week 36 of the last Brasileirão is where they are most found. There are up to four parties investigated.

It is not the first time that the manipulation of results or game situations appears. The cases of Italy where Juventus dropped to the second division and in Spain are well remembered.
