If you thought that the least leaked goalkeeper, compared to the main European Leagues this season, played for Real Madrid, Manchester City or Bayern, you were wrong. The correct answer comes from Portugal, more precisely from Santa Clara, which competes in Liga Portugal 2. Brazilian Gabriel Batista, former Flamengo, conceded just three goals in nine matches played, being the “goalkeeper” of the moment.
Hradecky, from Bundesliga leader Bayern Leverkusen, has already conceded ten goals. In Spain, Real Madrid’s Kepa conceded eight goals in ten La Liga matches. Brazilian Ederson, from City, conceded nine goals in 11 games. Gabriel’s feat made Santa Clara’s defense the least leaky among 56 Portuguese clubs competing in the first three divisions.

Next is Filgueiras, leader of group A of League 3 with five goals conceded in 10 games. AVS, first placed in Liga Portugal 2 with only 4 goals conceded in nine games, completes the top 3 best defense in the country. For Gabriel, everyone is responsible for the excellent moment in the sector.
“Marking starts up front, when our players reduce space and apply pressure. Of course, I have a vital role to play at this moment because of my position. I would like to thank all of the staff at Santa Clara who assist me daily in this process. I hope that we can maintain a low average number of goals conceded and help the team to climb the division again”, said the archer.
Gabriel Batista’s team plays next Saturday (11), against AVS, at home, at São Miguel Stadium, at 12:30 pm (Brasília time). With a contract until June 2025, Gabriel Batista will have the mission, until the end of the season, to help Santa Clara return to the elite of Portuguese football.
