On Sunday night (30), Brazilian Bia Zaneratto, forward for Kansas City Current, announced that she is out of the Paris Olympics.

On social media, the player confirmed a stress fracture in the fourth metatarsal and, therefore, is not expected to be included in the call-up of the Brazilian Women’s National Team, scheduled for this Tuesday (2).

Bia Zaneratto is out of the Olympics

On social media, the Brazilian national team striker announced that she will take a break from football to treat a stress fracture in the fourth metatarsal.

“I don’t even need to say how much it hurts my heart to go through this, but with the certainty that I went to my limit, I did everything within my reach. I accept that it was meant to be this way, there are things that no matter how much we want them, they’re not meant to be,” the player wrote.

In April, Bia Zaneratto had already suffered an injury and was therefore cut from Brazil’s last friendly match against Jamaica in June.

At 30 years old, the striker has already played in two Olympics (Rio-2016 and Tokyo-2020, held in 2021) and has also represented the national team in four World Cups (2011, 2015, 2019 and 2023).

Bia Zaneratto’s problem

For a few months, plantar fasciitis has been causing pain and discomfort. However, the athlete tried to deal with the problem, at least until the Paris games.

However, last Friday (28), the striker suffered a stress fracture and left the field at halftime in KC Current’s 2-0 win over Houston Dash in the NWSL, the American women’s league.

Brazil’s debut at the Olympics

Brazil is in Group C of the Olympics and will make their debut against Nigeria on July 25. The other opponents will be Japan, on the 28th, and Spain, on the 31st.
