Brazilian men’s football topped the global ranking in profits and player transfers during the January transfer window, according to a report released by FIFA. The study analyzed the period from January 1st to February 1st, 2024, involving the 211 member associations affiliated with the organization.

Among the amounts received from player transactions, Brazilian football clubs received a total of $251.2 million, equivalent to around R$1.25 billion, representing the highest sum in the sports world. This figure reflects a 158% growth compared to the same period in 2023 in the country, when it reached $97.3 million. Portugal ranks behind Brazil with $132.2 million, followed by Belgium with $110.2 million, Argentina with $109.3 million, and Italy with $97.1 million.
Brazilian football also led in the number of player movements, totaling 658. There were 409 players signed by Brazilian clubs and 249 who left the country.
Regarding countries that spent the most on player acquisitions, Brazil ranked fifth in the global statistics, with $122.6 million. French clubs were the biggest spenders in January: $291.9 million. Following behind are England, Germany, and Spain with $184 million, $151.8 million, and $148.7 million, respectively.
