Club América seeks to return to the glory days in Mexico, and for this they went in search of André Jardine. The Brazilian coach, who came from working at Atlético San Luis, was officially presented this Wednesday. “The greatness of this club forces us to give our best version. We will be aggressive, forceful, we will try from the beginning,” he said at a press conference.

Although it can be said that the Eagles will be the biggest challenge in his short career, the 43-year-old already has an interesting resume. In addition to having led San Luis to two playoffs out of three possible, Jardine led Brazil to its second Olympic gold in Tokyo 2020. Now, he will have the obligation to triumph at the Azteca Stadium.

André Jardine will have a challenging task in America

The Brazilian will replace the Argentine Fernando Ortiz, who said goodbye to the club in May after the elimination against Chivas de Guadalajara, the eternal rival of the Eagles, in the semifinals of the Clausura 2023 tournament. There have been several years without titles for América, so the patience of the fans is exhausted.

Although they are the winningest team in Liga MX history with 13 titles, their last success came at the 2018 Apertura. Therefore, Jardine will be judged on his ability to lead this sleeping giant back to the top. Its official debut will be on Friday, June 30, when the Azulcremas receive Juárez on the first day of the Apertura 2023.
