The victory at Snapdragon Stadium was Arthur Elias’s fifth win as the head coach of the Brazilian National Team. In seven games, the coach has accumulated five wins and two losses, with 11 goals scored and seven conceded.
Brazil takes the lead early
Within the first five minutes, Brazil took the lead. The team capitalized on a mistake by goalkeeper Natalia Giraldo. Bia Zaneratto intercepted the Colombian’s clearance and initiated a quick counterattack. Duda Santos seized Gabi Nunes’ pass and put Brazil ahead. It was the third goal for the player from Alagoas in ten games for the National Team.
Equilibrium
The strong marking on ball exits continued to pay off. The Colombian goalkeeper made another mistake, and Adriana nearly scored Brazil’s second goal. The first half remained balanced as both teams’ defenses allowed few opportunities for their opponents. The second half continued to be fiercely contested. Both teams sought victory and tried to create chances. At 17 minutes, Arthur Elias made three substitutions. Debinha, Ary Borges, and Geyse came on for Adriana, Duda Santos, and Bia Zaneratto, respectively.
VAR disallows second goal
The change pushed the team forward. At 19 minutes, Yasmim delivered a free-kick to Geyse’s head, who found the back of the Colombian net. However, the goal was disallowed by VAR. Brazil maintained their intensity. At 38 minutes, Aline Milene replaced Gabi Nunes. Shortly after, Vitória Yaya substituted Duda Sampaio. The end was thrilling with both teams on the attack, but the National Team managed to secure the victory.
