Other countries with foreign players
Brazil has a comfortable lead as of now. The French are behind, with 28 players in the league. Spain is third, with 23 representatives, whereas Porugal and Ireland are tied with 21.
The first Brazilian to pave the way was Newcastle’s legend Mirandinha. It took a while for players of the country to get the hang of England, specially due to it’s different weather. It was only in the 2007/2008 season that there were more than 15 Brazilians in the league, for instance.
