FIFA updated its ranking of national teams after three continental competitions and the prior period of international friendlies. At the top, the main news is Spain’s climb from eighth to third place after winning the Euros and Brazil’s one-place drop, after their elimination in the quarter-finals of the Copa América.

Argentina remains at the top of the list with the new success achieved in the tournament played in the United States. La Albiceleste defended the 2021 Copa América title in the midst of a golden moment that had the high point of winning the Qatar World Cup.

France, the runner-up in the last World Cup, remains second. In the Euros, they were eliminated in the semi-finals by Spain, the champion of this tournament and who closes the podium thanks to that coronation.

Their opponent in the Euro final, England, moved from fifth to fourth place. The opposite path was taken by Brazil, who fell from fifth to fourth place as a result of their early elimination from the Copa América.

Belgium, Netherlands, Portugal, Colombia and Italy close, in that order, the top 10. To highlight the three-place drop of the Belgian national team, eliminated in the round of 16 of the Euros, and the three-place climb of the Colombians, finalists in the Copa América.

In the rest of the table, FIFA highlighted the great rise in the rankings of two national teams that reached the quarter-finals in their respective continental competitions: Turkey (26th after rising 16 places) and Venezuela (37th after climbing 17 positions).
