The game

After three minutes, the Seleção opened the scoring. From the defense field, Michel made a great throw to Marquinhos, who advanced quickly and reached the area, where Guilherme Biro and Figueiredo were approaching.

He tried to assist the athletes, but goalkeeper Tapia cut it and gave it a rebound. Mexican defender Leone arrived at speed and pushed the ball into the back of the net.

In the 20th minute, the team put pressure on the Mexican ball and created a good chance to score with Marquinhos, who received a pass from Figueiredo, but had his shot blocked by the opposing defense.

In the next minute, Mexico demanded a good save from Mycael on a low shot from Ayon. Patryck removed the danger for Brazil.

Figueiredo had freedom and found a great pass for Pirani, who was face to face with goalkeeper Tapia, but Leone cut in and prevented a clear goal chance.

In the 15th minute, Mycael had to defend Carrillo’s shot after exchanging passes inside the area.

The Mexican player was also in danger with a long shot, in the 28th minute. Three minutes later, Ambriz forced another intervention from the Brazilian goalkeeper with a shot from outside the area.

The goalkeeper Mycael made a beautiful save against Fernandez’s header, preventing Mexico from equalizing in the 44th minute of the second half and ensuring the Brazilian team reached the final of the Pan-American Games.

Amarelinha broke a 20-year taboo without competing for the gold medal. The last time this happened was in 2003, with the team led by Paulo Campos, which included Vágner Love, Diego Souza and Cleiton Xavier.

After the hard-fought qualification, Ramon Menezes’ team takes to the field, next Saturday (4), in the Pan-American Championship match against Chile, at 8pm, at the Sausalito Stadium, in Viña del Mar.

BRAZIL: Mycael; Miranda, Arthur Chaves, Michel and Patryck; Ronald, Igor Jesus and Guilherme Biro (Gustavo Martins); Gabriel Pirani (Kaio), Marquinhos (Thauan Lara) and Figueiredo. Coach – Ramon Menezes.
