Brazil beats Argentina to crown Copa America futsal champion

Brazil was crowned champion of the Futsal Copa America by defeating Argentina 2-0 in the final. Pito and Rafa Santos scored the goals for the team coached by Marquinhos Xavier, who remained unbeaten in the tournament held in Paraguay and secured a place in the World Cup in Uzbekistan, scheduled from September 14 to October 6.

This victory marks the eleventh time that Canarinha has won this title, making them the most successful team in this competition that has been organized since 1992. They will also represent the region in the World Cup alongside Argentina as the runner-up, Venezuela which claimed third place, and Paraguay.

The match in the city of Luque saw the scoring open in the first half through Jean Pierre Guisel “Pito.” The FC Barcelona player from Spain anticipated his rivals in a corner kick to send the ball into the net.

Towards the end, when Argentina had sent all players forward in search of a late equalizer, Brazil scored their second goal. Rafa Santos seized a rebound and from long distance shot into an empty net to seal the final score.

Prior to this, the third-place match ended with a 4-1 victory for Venezuela against Paraguay. Rafael Morillo, Carlos Sanz, Víctor Carreño, and Jean Trujillo scored for Vinotinto, while Pedro Pascottini got a consolation goal for Paraguay.
