The away side goal came in the 64th minutes thanks to a play by Soteldo that had a shot deflected off Léo Ortiz’s and went in. Léo Ortiz redeemed himself and scored late into the extra time and drew level ending the game 1-1.

The first half started slowly perhaps due to the absence of Marinho at Santos and Claudinho at Bragantino, two highlights of the both sides in the championship. Both teams created less, waiting to capitalize on each other’s mistake.

The chances were rare; a low shot from Madson, an aerial ball with Léo Ortiz one end but weak.

In the 25th minute, Cuello received a great pass from Lucas Evangelista and sent the ball through to João Paulo with all efforts wasted. Although Santos reacted with a shot from Soteldo, the home side kept pressuring to draw first blood.

In the second half, Santos made three changes with ParáLucas Lourenço and Lucas Braga in the places of Madson, Jean Mota and Arthur Gomes but it failed to bring any notable change. Bragantino kept on pushing for their first goal of the match and ended up making a lot of mistakes. In the 64th minute, Soteldo sent to the area, the ball hit Léo Ortiz’s hand and went to the net. The disadvantage caused disarray to the home side but they soon got back to their fit late into the game and got their equalizer.

In the 96th minutes, Léo Ortiz with a header drew level and guaranteed his side a point.

Santos will return to the field next Saturday. They host Inter, the championship leader, in Vila Belmiro. Bragantino only plays on Monday next week, as they visit Botafogo.
