Bragantino have not lost in ten games, and they maintained that run after sharing the spoils with Cuiabá on Wednesday night at the Nabi Abi Chedid stadium. With a fantastic angle shot in the 29th minute of the first half, Praxedes gave Massa Bruta the lead. After a gutsy display from the visitors, Jenison equalized for Dourado in the 78th minute to see the game end square.
Cuiabá started the game better, with superior marking and a closer approach to the attack, but were unable to score.
Later in the first half, Bragantino improved and took control of the game around the 21st minute. In the 28th minute, however, Massa Bruta scored. Praxedes took a chance from outside the box and hit a fantastic angle shot after Raul passed to him. Following that goal, the game was evenly balanced going into the halftime break.
In the second half, Cuiabá also got off to a better start. Elton received the ball on the edge of the box in the opening five minutes and took a brilliant strike but his effort was blocked. In the 50th minute, Clayson delivered a short corner to Pepê, but the midfielder struck the crossbar with a clean shot down the middle. Clayson forced a fantastic save from Cleiton after finding himself in a one-on-one situation. Cuiabá pressed Bragantino, who sat back, waiting for an opening to add to their lead
Cuiabá finally got their breakthrough in the 78th minute, after relentless pressure for an equalizer. Jenison was able to twist and put his team level on the scoreboard after Felipe Marques crossed from the right. In a bid to complete a comeback win perhaps, the Mato Grosso team-maintained possession of the game, while the Paulistas closed in on their defence to hold the score line till the end.
The result means Bragantino continue as the only side yet to taste defeat in the Brazilian Championship this season.
Bragantino will face Athletico-PR in the 11th round of the Brazilian Championship on Saturday, at the Arena da Baixada. Cuiabá will face Ceará at Arena Pantanal on Sunday.
