The home side drew first blood in the 44th minute when Victor Luis placed a beautiful cross finding a perfect header from Matheus Babi. Bragantino didn’t take too long draw level. Just about a minute after, Ytalo received an audacious pass in the edge of the area and scored a beautiful goal, ending the first half in a draw.
In the second half, Botafogo played better than their opponents and had series of chances to take the lead but failed.
In the 86th minute, a penalty was awarded to Bragantino after a bad foul from Botafogo’s defender was reviewed twice. Claudinho took the penalty and secured the victory for his side.
With the victory, Bragantino left the relegation zone and are now up to15th place with 23 points while Botafogo remains at 19th position with 20 points.

It was a controversial game at the Nilton Santos. In the second half, we saw the game go 10 minutes into the stoppage time after two VAR reviews for a possible penalty in favour of Bragantino was checked. The referee, after the reviews with the VAR decided to follow his initial decision and overlook Victor Luis’s handball in the area disallowing the penalty.
Few minutes later, after taking another long time to decide if Kanu’s rough touch in the area was deemed a penalty offence or not, the referee decided this time to award the penalty. That was the crucial one which eventually gifted Bragantino the victory.
