Two first half goals guided visitors Bragantino to yet another victory on the road as they defeated Corinthians 2-0 on Monday night.
Helio Junio scored early and Claudinho grabbed one before the break as Bragantino maintain their impressive form of late in the Brasilerao.
Bragantino took the lead in the 3rd minute of the match, after a misplaced pass by Fábio Santos and a lay off from Claudinho saw Helio open the scoring from outside the area in what was a beautiful team effort.
Corinthians almost drew level minutes later after Mateus Vital attempted a shot from outside the 18-yard box. However Bragantino goalkeeper Cleiton made a world-class stop to keep the forward effort out.
Both teams had back and forth goal scoring opportunities but Corinthians saw the most without finding the back of the net.
However, Bragantino got their second goal of the evening as Claudinho placed a shot past Cassio following an assist from Ytalo to double his side’s lead in the 42nd minute.
After the break, Vagner Mancini made two changes with the mind of turning the two-goal deficit around. He replaced Mateus Vital and Gustavo Mosquito with Otero and Léo Natel to shake things up. But Bragantino having a two-goal lead, did not give Timão the room they needed to operate and get anything from the game.
Bragantino held on with resolute defending and saw off their two-goal lead until the end of the game.
Corinthians will be aiming for a return to winning ways when they face Bahia on Thursday while Bragantino have a mountain to climb when they take on current leaders Internacional on Sunday.
