Botafogo opens a three-point lead for the top spot in the Brasileirão

Botafogo is the new leader of the Brasileirão Betano, following their victory on Wednesday night (17) over Palmeiras by 1-0 at Nilton Santos, in the 17th round. The Glorious team reached 36 points with the result obtained in front of their fans. The Paulista team is in second place, with 33 points.

Fortaleza and Vasco continued their good form on Wednesday. Undefeated for five matches, the Cruzmaltino achieved their fourth consecutive win with a 1-0 victory over Atlético-GO at Antônio Accioly. Meanwhile, the Leão do Pici secured their third straight win, defeating Vitória 3-1 at Arena Castelão. Another team enjoying a great moment is Cruzeiro, who beat Red Bull Bragantino 2-1 at Independência on Saturday (13).

The day also featured a clash between the São Paulo and Grêmio teams, which ended with São Paulo taking all three points with a 1-0 win at MorumBIS.

On Tuesday (16), Corinthians defeated Criciúma 2-1 at Neo Química Arena, while Juventude drew 1-1 with Atlético-MG at Mané Garrincha. On Saturday (13), in addition to Cruzeiro’s victory, Bahia was surprised by Cuiabá, losing 2-1 at Arena Fonte Nova.

18th Round

The next round of the Brasileirão Betano begins on Saturday afternoon (20). At 4 PM, Flamengo will face Criciúma at Mané Garrincha. At 6:30 PM, it will be Botafogo vs. Internacional at Nilton Santos. Palmeiras and Cruzeiro will compete for victory at 9 PM at Allianz Parque.

On Sunday (21), Grêmio will host Vitória at Centenário at 11 AM. At 4 PM, there will be two simultaneous matches: Atlético-MG vs. Vasco at Arena MRV, and Bahia vs. Corinthians at Arena Fonte Nova. Three matches will fill the 6:30 PM slot: Red Bull Bragantino vs. Athletico-PR at Nabi Abi Chedid; Fortaleza vs. Atlético-GO at Arena Castelão; and Juventude vs. São Paulo at Mané Garrincha.

The match between Cuiabá and Fluminense at 8 PM at Arena Pantanal marks the end of the 18th round of the Brasileirão Betano.
