Confusion at the stadium

Botafogo fans who went to the Metropolitano Stadium on Tuesday night (28th) were removed from the venue around the 30th minute of the second half.

The Colombian police were responsible for expelling the Brazilian fans from the arena. In a press conference after the match, Artur Jorge expressed solidarity with the club’s supporters.

“I am disappointed by what the fans went through here in the stands and had to leave the game with 15 minutes to go, when it was the moment we needed them. They were exemplary today. They could have been important for the final part of the match,” said the coach.

Official note from Botafogo

Botafogo released an official note on social media and stated that it will file a complaint with Conmebol about the case.

“Botafogo will report to CONMEBOL the treatment imposed on its fans by the Barranquilla Police, who removed them from the stadium about 15 minutes before the end of the match. The Club awaits measures and regrets the disrespect. Botafogo thanks each of the Alvinegros who were present in Colombia.”
