After several weeks of rumors, conversations and a lot of drama, Luiz Henrique finally has a new team. The footballer trained in the Fluminense youth team momentarily closes his stage in European football to return to the Brasileirão, since Botafogo has confirmed that the 23-year-old winger will be its luxury reinforcement for the coming season and that he signs until 2028.
As various highly reliable sources had already reported, Botafogo had the clear intention of starting talks with Real Betis to reach a definitive agreement for his transfer.
In principle, the green and white club did not want to listen to offers that did not reach 20.00 million euros and John Textor’s investment group agreed to reach these quotas, but including variables that were easy to meet.

For this reason, Botafogo would have only paid, for the moment, 16 million euros for his services. The extra four million in the operation would be due to variables, including one that would be fulfilled if Luiz Henrique leaves Botafogo for Olympique Lyon, another of the clubs that Textor manages.
Although Fogão has not confirmed the exact amount to be paid, they do affirm that they have made history by completing the most expensive transfer in the entire history of Brazilian football.
The record belonged to Flamengo, a club that paid around 17.50 million euros to Inter Milan for Gabigol in the 2019/2020 season. Therefore, if we base ourselves only on the fixed price paid for Luiz Henrique (16.00 million), the winger would occupy second position on the list of the most expensive transfers in the history of Brazilian football.
However, considering that the variables to reach 20.00 million would be easy to meet, Luiz Henrique will become, in the near future, the most expensive footballer who has ever joined the Brasileirão.
