Philippe Coutinho could have a new opportunity in Spanish football. The Brazilian, who left a lot to be desired during his time as a Barcelona player, would be on Betis’s radar before the transfer window closes in Europe’s big leagues.
As reported by AS, Aston Villa is considering loaning out the 31-year-old player so that he can add minutes of play and recover his level, with the hope that he can raise his price. Besiktas would also be interested in the midfielder, so these will be crucial hours for Manuel Pellegrini’s team.

Coutinho’s complicated cycle in Barcelona
After seeing him shine with Liverpool, Barcelona shelled out an impressive €135m to sign Coutinho in January 2018. However, the Brazilian was never able to adjust to the change to show at the Camp Nou what he had done at Anfield.
After spending the 2019/20 season on loan at Bayern Munich, the player who emerged from Vasco da Gama returned to Catalonia and at times had filming, but never gave the club reasons to earn permanence.
His career was revived when Steven Gerrard, his former Liverpool teammate, brought him to Aston Villa in January 2022. Thanks to his strong performances, the Birmingham side paid €20m to make the transfer permanent the following summer.
Gerrard’s eventual departure hurt Coutinho, who has lost a lot of place in the team since the arrival of Unai Emery in Birmingham. Now he could return to Spain, but in a quite different context to that of five years ago.
