Ernando scored in the 90th minute of the second half, and Bahia was victorious 2-1 over Bragantino.
The game started tense with the two teams going heads on launching attacks towards each other.
Bahia was looking the most dangerous side at the very start though both teams were all over each other. Bragantino managed to put the games intensity on a balance to evening out Bahia threats, with a more superior and more tactical organization.
Bahia broke the deadlock in the 26th minute when Juninho rose high to connect with Juninho Capixaba’s cross from a corner kick. Ending the first half 1-0 in Bahia’s favour.
The second half was strongly dominated by Bragantino. They took advantage of their opponent’s drawn back approach and every slight mistakes and failures made with and without the ball. The equalizer didn’t take long, after the team from São Paulo was so possessive and pressed so hard to get their much needed equalizer due to their performance.
Léo Ortiz pulled one back in the 77th minute after a free kick and went close twice to beating goalkeeper Douglas.
The end of the game was electrifying. At the 90th minute, Élber had a chance to put Bahia with and attempt late on but failed. Then moment after there was the goal of triumph. After a corner kick, Ernando headed in the winning goal to end an intriguing match at Pituaçu.
The game finished 2-1 in Bahia’s favour.
With the result, Bahia leaped up to fifth place in the Brazilian Championship while Bragantino are still on a winless streak and lie 12th place in the league table, with two points so far.
Bahia faces São Paulo on Thursday in Morumbi. On Wednesday, Bragantino hosts Fluminense at Abu Nabi Chedid.
