Galo overcame controversy at the beginning of the game and had a good second half. In the second half, they rose up to the occasion and were able to record a come-back victory.

The game started with a lot of controversy.

Atlético had a penalty claim in the very first attack of the match when Vargas was pulled by Gil in the area. The referee and the VAR after the reviews decided it was not going to be a penalty. It didn’t take long for the home side to open the scoring. In the 6th minute, Davó drew first blood and gave Corinthians the early lead.

In the second half, Corinthians returned with the same game plan as their first 45 minutes. But it was Atlético that had the upper hand, and was able to draw level. Vargas gave Arana a beautiful pass in the area who took his shot with precision to equalize in the 61st minute.

The Rooster pressured and got a save from Cassio who saved a shot over the line after Nathan’s attempt. The goalkeeper made two brilliant saves in the game but couldn’t stop Marrony’s effort late in the game afteKeno’s cross in the 84th minute. Galo were able to hold on to their lead.

Atlético return to the field on Wednesday to face Athletico-PR in Mineirão for a postponed fixture of the sixth round of the Brasileirão. For the 22nd round, Galo and Corinthians will play next weekend, on Sunday.

The miners will take the field against Ceará at Castelão.  Corinthians will take on Grêmio at the Neo Química Arena once again.
