In what was an unexpected result, Atlético-GO and Internacional finished the game goalless at the Antônio Accioly Stadium on Saturday night.
Inter missed a golden chance to win the game with Thiago Galhardo missing a penalty in the second half.
The result is not a good won for either side but Inter has it worse as it stands.
The gaucho team have now gone up to six games in the Brasileirão without a win and three losses have come within that timeframe. It sees them continue a poor run of form since the departure of Eduardo Coudet who left for La Liga side Celta Vigo.
Both sides had a balanced game in the first half and there was no real spark from either end. Atlético-GO were happy to sit back and play on the counter. Inter saw more possession of the ball and created more clear cut chances. However, they were not clinical in front of goal.
Atlético-GO saw zero creativity in the game and this was highlighted by the fact that they had zero shots on goal throughout the match.
In the second half, both sides still failed to convince and were sluggish on the evening. There was a potential game changer in the 60th minute when Heitor took a corner kick and Zé Roberto handled with his hands, leading to a penalty in the process.
Thiago Galhardo took the resulting spot kick but saw his effort saved by Jean. In the 69th minute, it got worse for Inter when Rodrigo Moledo received his second yellow card and was given his marching orders. Even with the one-man advantage, Atlético-GO were not able to capitalize on it.
Internacional were able to hold it out for a goalless stalemate.
