The match was played in Goiânia for the 20th round of the Brazilian Championship. Dragão opened the scoring late in the first half with Oliveira’s goal, but Timão drew level twelve minutes into the second half, with the goal scored by Fábio Santos in a controversial penalty conceded by Fagner.
The first half balanced at both ends. The goal didn’t come until the 42nd minute when Oliveira headed in at close range.
It was the best action that happened in a very bad first half by both Atlético-GO and Corinthians.
The Dragon had a slight superiority but made series of mistakes when building up plays and going forward, giving Cássio little to no threat.
Timão started Luan behind the striker who didn’t show much of his qualities as the former best of America.
Shortly before the home side’s goal, Davó had a chance to draw first blood but was sloppy and allowed Jean to recover quickly and stop his efforts on goal preventing the opportunity.
In the second half, Corinthians did not show hunger to level matters or to win the game but managed to get one back 12 minutes in the second period. Gilvan hit the ball along with Fagner in the goal area causing a penalty. Fábio Santos scored the penalty and levelled matters.
In the 66th minute, Timão almost took the lead again when Davó received a very good pass from Luan in the middle of the goal area but his shot was stopped. Gilvan prevented it from going in, stopping it right on the lines.
Atlético-GO wanted to try something new, sat back and allowed Corinthians to have possession of the ball, relying on counter attacks, but all efforts lacked quality and ended the game in a stalemate.
