Athletico Paranaense technical director Luiz Felipe Scolari is in favour of a potential transfer of Vitor Roque to FC Barcelona. As the 18-year-old draws attention from European giants, especially from the Catalan club, the former Brazilian coach believes it would be better both for the player and the club to let him go.

According to Sport, Barça have already struck a deal to sign the striker on a five-year contract. However, Athletico’s executives admitted the Cules’ interest but denied any official proposal, let alone that an agreement has been reached.

Scolari also mentioned goalkeeper Bento, who’s reportedly on Benfica’s radar. The Brazilian club have no intention of selling the 23-year-old for less than €7m, which would make him the most expensive goalkeeper in the Brazilian league.

He also addressed Fernandinho’s case, whose contract ends at the end of the year. Although his future is yet to be determined, Scolari highlighted the veteran midfielder’s qualities and how important he is for the club and the front office.

Luiz Felipe Scolari, who retired as a coach in 2022, racked up 27 titles in his career and is considered one of the best managers in Brazilian football history. He’s been Athletico Paranaense’s technical director since resigning to his managerial duties after taking the team to the Copa Libertadores final last year.
