Zico’s greatness

In his time as a player, Zico played for Brazil in three FIFA World Cups between 1978 and 1986. The former number 10 was the leader of the iconic 1982 team in the tournament played in Spain. The midfielder is considered the greatest player in the history of Flamengo and shone with Udinese in Italy in the 80s.

In addition, Zico was an important figure in the development of the grassroots of professional football in Japan. The Brazilian shone with the shirt of Kashima Antlers and was the Japanese national team coach. Recently, he has been acting as a football executive and ambassador related to the Asian country.

For many people in Brazil, Zico is the best player in the country’s history after Pelé, even though he has never won a World Cup.
