Artur Jorge is set to become the new manager of Brazilian Serie A club Botafogo, moving from Portugal’s Braga. According to reports from Brazil, including Globo Esporte, Jorge has agreed to personal terms and is expected to arrive in Rio de Janeiro to sign his contract on Tuesday.

The deal includes a compensation of two million euros to Braga, significantly less than Jorge’s 10-million-euro release clause.

Jorge replaces Fabio Matias, who served as interim manager following the dismissal of Tiago Nunes in February. Currently in his second season at Braga, which is fourth in Portugal’s top league, 52-year-old Jorge brings considerable experience to Botafogo.

Botafogo, with two Brazilian league titles, is preparing for the 2024 Serie A season, starting with an away game against Cruzeiro on April 13. The club is also set to compete in this year’s Copa Libertadores, beginning their campaign with a home match against Colombia’s Junior Barranquilla on Wednesday.
