This Friday (21), the Women’s Main Team concluded preparations for the first friendly with Canada. Projecting the next duel, coach Arthur Elias analyzed the training periods and stated that the team is ready for the clash against the Canadians this Saturday (28), at Saputo Stadium, at 3:30 pm (Brasília time).
“I’m very happy to be here, I worked hard for this. Not only me, but the entire group is very comfortable in this new cycle. We have been taking advantage of all these days with the athletes and the coaching staff to bring a light environment to Selection, an environment of joy, but also of a lot of responsibility and understanding of what it means to wear this shirt”, said Arthur.
“But we also took the opportunity to work on the tactical side, we made the changes we thought were necessary to give the team a boost. Of course it’s still the first game, but I see that the Seleção is ready to be tested at a high level against a great opponent like Canada”, he added.

Arthur is known for his offensive playing style, but with balance in defense. The coach revealed that, for him, more important than the system is the understanding that each player has of their position. This way, he can better work on his ideas and connect the team.
“The attack will be formed by three attackers in this game, maybe in the other game there will be two… I don’t care much about the system. The system will favor the positioning of the players to face the opponent, but this can be changed even throughout of the match and the team understands this and is ready for it”, he explained.
“The important thing is that they understand the function they have. Knowing how to divide the functions according to the space on the field makes everything easier so that I can change the system and increase the effective chances of scoring and, consequently, increase the chances of we win. That’s the thought and I think the athletes understand it well.”
The two games against Canada are already part of the preparation for the Paris Olympic Games next year. With a wide range of good athletes at his disposal, the coach revealed that the final list will be chosen close to the event, but that he is satisfied with the preparation schedule, which is already an important first step when thinking about the Olympics.
“We are already preparing with three games scheduled for this year and competitions next year before the Olympics. I am very satisfied with our calendar and very satisfied with the number of quality athletes who are playing at a high level. That’s just It gives me a lot of options and obviously the Olympic group will be chosen very close to the Olympic Games and I see that this also depends not only on the National Team, but also on the performance of the athletes in their clubs.”
