The Brazilian Women’s Team is gathered at Granja Comary, in Teresópolis, Rio de Janeiro, for a period of training. Coach Arthur Elias called up 30 players to start making their mark at Canarinho.
The coach is part of the evolution of women’s football in Brazil and this is evident with his numbers. Since he started competing in the Brazilian Championship in 2013, he has been to ten semi-finals, eight finals and won six titles, in 11 editions of the competition. His first experience with women’s football took place in 2006, when he set up a project at the Center for Sports Practices at the University of São Paulo (CEPEUSP), focused on the characteristics of women in football. Then, in 2009, he commanded the Nacional/Mackenzie team.
In 2011, Arthur arrived at the place where he would win his first major title: the Centro Olímpico. There, in addition to being the coach of the club’s first professional team, he also coordinated the youth team project, which is now a reference in the sport. The victory of the Brasileirão Feminino at the head of the Centro Olímpico took place in 2013.

In 2015, Arthur joined Audax and the turning point in his career began in 2016, when he began a partnership between the Osasco club and Corinthians. In the same year, the coach won the Copa do Brasil. The following year, he won the much-desired Copa Libertadores de América title.
In 2018, the partnership between Corinthians and Audax came to an end. With the separation, Arthur was invited to remain at Timão and his time at Alvinegro can be defined in three words: imposing, efficient and victorious.
Between 2018 and 2023 Arthur led the team in winning 14 titles: Libertadores (2017, 2019 and 2021), Campeonato Brasileiro (2018, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023), Supercopa (2022 and 2023), Paulistão (2019, 2020 and 2021) and Copa Paulista (2022).
Individually, he was the best coach of the Brazilian Championship in the last 3 years (2021, 2022 and 2023) and in 2018. Best coach of Paulista in 2018 and 2021, and won the Silver Ball award in 2022 and 2023.
Now, the coach arrives in the Brazilian team to win over the fans once and for all. Once again having the numbers in his favor, Arthur knows how to encourage the team when it comes to the knockout stages.
In the last four years, he led Corinthians in 66 “elimination style” games, winning 55 times, drawing eight and losing only three times. With these results, the success rate is 87.4%.
It is worth remembering that competitions such as Copa América, Olympic Games and World Cup have stages that follow the knockout model, so Arthur arrives at his new challenge with some assets.
“These eight years at Corinthians certainly helped me a lot to be a better professional, to have international experiences in South America in relation to Libertadores da América. In addition to all the baggage of facing the knockout system”, said the coach in an interview with CBF TV.
