“It’s important that our objectives have been met so far, and we have consolidated our playing model. Nigeria is a strong team, with very fast athletes and excellent transition play. They make good use of aerial balls, with players who are in good form at their clubs,” said the Brazilian coach.
He also emphasized the quality of Nigeria’s defense, which was not breached in three of the four matches they played in the 2023 Australia World Cup.
“We analyzed many of Nigeria’s games from the past year and a half. It’s a team that concedes few goals. In fact, in last year’s World Cup, they were eliminated only in the knockout stage, and through penalty shootouts, after a 0-0 draw with England, who finished as runners-up.”
Brazil and Nigeria are in Group C of the women’s football tournament at the Olympics, alongside Japan and Spain, who will also face each other this Thursday at La Beaujoire Stadium in Nantes.
