After weeks of speculation, the Gunners finally landed their defensive target in Brazilian centre-half.
Arsenal had to ward off strong interest from the likes of Napoli and Everton to prize the defender away from Lille.
It was even reported that Gabriel received even better financial offers from other clubs but was convinced to join Arsenal after speaking to Mikel Arteta.
The 22-year-old was announced via a video-call with fellow Brazilian teammates David Luiz and Willian welcoming him to the Emirates.
Magalhaes shared that Mikel Arteta helped him make up his mind in joining the Gunners over other options. The Sao Paulo native shared that he expects a tough time in Premier League and the Spanish coach has informed him of that.
"Having the coach himself calling you to say he wants you in his squad motivates you a lot. That is the very reason I am here today," Football London quoted the defender.
"We did not talk about [details], he just told me he is aware of my quality, my capacity and how far I can go. He also said he will be very demanding with me.
"I know he is a great coach and I will make progress with his help."

Gabriel was among the top rated centre-backs in Ligue 1 last season and was also part of the centre-backs with the highest successful tackle rates in Europe. His signature for only €30m is a massive bargain for the Gunners.
Arsenal will have a new-look defense at the Emirates this season. Gabriel joins William Saliba at the club, and the duo will be blooded in English top-flight football.
