The legal saga surrounding Manchester United’s Antony has taken a new twist.

Unexpected withdrawal of complaint
Rayssa de Freitas, a law student, had accused Antony of assault in a case that occurred in May 2022, when she was allegedly attacked by the player and Mallu Ohana, ex-wife of Brazilian player Dudu, in the footballer’s Land Rover after a nightclub outing in Sao Paulo.
However, a recent report from British newspaper The Telegraph reveals that the alleged victim has since withdrawn her complaint .
This turnaround is particularly surprising, especially since the initial report was submitted to the Sao Paulo civil police. According to reports, the two women in the vehicle had made accusations of sexual assault against each other.
Manchester United in the dark
One of the disturbing aspects of this case is the fact that the Manchester United club was until recently completely unaware of the existence of this police report.
This silence surrounding the incident which occurred three months before Antony’s record £85 million transfer to the Premier League club has led to many questions about the transparency in the handling of the matter.
The Brazilian star, meanwhile, continues to deny all accusations against him, stressing that he has neither been arrested nor charged in any of these cases.
The outcome of this legal saga is likely to be complex.
🎙️ Antony: “I have agreed with United to take a period of absence while I address the allegations made against me.”
“This was mutual decision.”
“I want to reiterate my innocence of the things I have been accused of, I will fully cooperate with the police.”
