One of the most experienced of the players called up by Arthur Elias for the Paris Olympic Games, Antônia is a reference for the team. She naturally plays her leadership role and encourages her teammates all the time. For her, the coaching staff was very successful in bringing eight athletes to Teresópolis to train with the National Team during their stay in the city.

“This is a differential for us. Having experience side by side with youth allows us to work on various things, such as speed, for example, and also brings the possibility for the more experienced to calm the younger ones when necessary. It’s a very good exchange,” she said.

At Granja Comary, the eight athletes selected by the coach for the training period until July 17 are goalkeeper Natascha, defenders Mariza, Vitória Calhau and Pati Maldaner, midfielder Letícia Monteiro, and forwards Luany, Jaqueline and Emily.

“This contact will show these girls what the day-to-day work is like and this will greatly help Arthur in the post-Olympics, in the preparations for other challenges. They will already know how the system and everything else works.”

Antônia already feels at home in this new stage at Granja Comary. “We here already start to breathe that little air… that now it’s for real, that the moment has arrived. It’s very good to have this preparation environment.”

The national team defender received a visit from a couple of friends at Granja Comary over the weekend. Natan and Naira came from Rio to support Antônia and recorded the meeting with the promise that they will be in the stands cheering for the player and the National Team at the Paris Olympics.
