The Women’s National Team is approaching the last challenge in the group stage of the 2023 World Cup. So far, Canarinho has won against Panama and suffered a defeat against France. Now, Brazil is preparing to face Jamaica, seeking to guarantee passage to the next phase of the competition. Only the victory matters for the national team.

At the 2019 World Cup, Brazil met Jamaica in the group stage and secured a 3-0 victory. In the press conference held this Monday (31), Andressa Alves emphasized that the Jamaican team they will face in this World Cup cannot be compared to that of four years ago.

“We know how difficult it will be against Jamaica, because it’s not Jamaica 2019. On the contrary, it’s a very well-structured team and we’re going to have to play everything, because it’s a final. So, we have to enter with this thought, the important thing is not to score, the important thing is to win 1 to 0 and make the three points and pass the stage”, she said.

Psychological preparation for the last challenge in the group stage will be a key point for Brazil. Aware of the challenge ahead, the attacking midfielder highlighted that the confrontation against Jamaica will be difficult and will require total focus and determination from Canarinho.

“They have a goal which is to pass the stage, everyone is playing for something. Brazil is playing to pass and so are they. It will be a very difficult game and we have to be concentrated from the first to the last minute and not despair. If the goal doesn’t come out at the beginning, keep working, keep involving Jamaica, because our attack is powerful and I trust us a lot”, she highlighted.

With the defeat to France, the national team currently occupies the third place in Group F, with three points. Meanwhile, Jamaica drew their first duel and won the second game, accumulating four points. Thus, the Jamaicans reach the next confrontation with the advantage of being able to advance to the next phase with a draw against Brazil.

“Brazil is still favorite against Jamaica. We depend only on ourselves, so we have to show our strength on the field. It’s a game that has no room for error, we have to play our best game so far in the competition. I trust my team, I know that Brazil has football to win”, she concluded.

Brazil and Jamaica face each other this Wednesday (2), at 7 am (Brasília time), at the Rectangular Stadium in Melbourne, in Melbourne (AUS).
