Allyson praises Cuiabá’s project after historic campaign in the Brasileirão: “A lot of work and hope”

The 2023 Brazilian Championship season came to an end with an important surprise in the center-west of the country: Cuiabá. Among the outstanding athletes, midfielder Allyson, aged 33, took over the team’s starting role in her first participation in the most important tournament in Brazil.

Allyson arrived in Cuiabá at the beginning of this year. After eight seasons abroad, he played for clubs in Israel and Turkey. Revealed by Nacional-SP, he also defended Independiente de Limeira and Grêmio Barueri. The player always dreamed of playing in Brazil, especially playing for a Serie A club.

“I always had the dream of playing in a Brazilian Championship and thank God and also Cuiabá I did it. This season was very special, especially in the second round, because I had more opportunities, got more into the rhythm of the game and showed a little more of my work. I’m very happy to be helping my team on the field”, comments Allyson.

Cuiabá made history in 2023. The team finished the Brasileirão with the highest number of victories in a single edition, best campaign as a visitor, record average attendance and highest score since accession. Dourado finished the championship in 12th place with 51 points.

Individually, Allyson had important numbers. There were 16 games (14 as a starter), 70% of duels won, 73% of duels won on the ground and 67% of aerial balls won. The player did not receive a red card and only received a yellow card.

“It is very gratifying to know that all our work and dedication paid off. Cuiabá had a great championship and is now starting to reap the rewards. We managed to have a historic campaign, which guaranteed us a place in the South American Championship. So now it’s time to rest because next year has everything to be another incredible year for Cuiabá”.

Cuiabá won a place in the 2024 Sudamericana. The club returns to compete in the tournament after two seasons. They participated in 2022, but fell in the group stage.
