Allison Becker scored a last-minute goal to complete Liverpool comeback and increase the Merseyside side’s chances of qualifying for the Champions League, with a 2-1 win against West Brom on Sunday.
Mohamed Salah equalized Hal Robson-Kanu’s 15th minute opener in the first half, but goalkeeper Alisson grabbed a late header from a corner and close the gap on fourth-place Chelsea to only one points, with two games remaining. That goal literally stole all the headlines.
West Brom started the game bravely, even after having nothing to play for, after their official relegation from the Premier League. They took the lead in the 15th minute, when Robson-Kanu curled a beautiful strike past Alisson, scoring in his first Premier League start since 2017.
Sadio Mane had the opportunity to equalize almost immediately after at close range, but his effort went past the post.
Liverpool then levelled matters in the 33rd minute, after Salah fired an effort from outside of the area to find the bottom corner, putting the game wide open.
Roberto Firmino came close to grabbing the winner moments later, but his strike rattled the crossbar.
Few minutes after the break, Mane put the ball into the back of the net, but his goal was ruled out for offside, before Salah found himself at the end of a counterattack to force a good save from Sam Johnstone before the hour mark.
Both teams lost several other chances to go up in the game, but in the 94th minute, Alisson came up and grabbed a stunning winner from a corner to keep Liverpool in the race for the top four.
That goal saw the Brazilian become only the sixth goalkeeper in Premier League history to achieve such a feat. After a tough past few months for Alisson, he dedicated that goal to his late dad, who recently passed away in February.
