Vitor Roque is now a player for Betis. After much speculation about his destination, the Seville club announced the signing of the 19-year-old forward after reaching an agreement with FC Barcelona.

According to the official communication, the operation includes a one-year loan in which the team managed by Chilean Manuel Pellegrini will cover all his salaries and bonuses. There is also the possibility to extend the loan for another season and an option to buy.

“Tigrinho will seek to gain minutes with Betis to continue his progression and adaptation to La Liga,” stated Barça on its website. During his semester at the club, the Brazilian participated in a total of 16 matches (14 in La Liga and two in the Cup), scoring two goals.

The loan was not the option sought by the Catalan club. Their idea was a sale, with Sporting Lisbon willing to pay around 30 million euros and Saudi football also interested in making a lucrative offer, but the forward prioritized the option of Betis and staying in La Liga.

According to the media outlet Sport, the dialogue he had with a delegation from the Andalusian team, led by former player Joaquín, helped a lot, as they expressed their strong desire for him to be the starting attacker. For Barcelona, his loan does not reduce the salary cap they must comply with due to financial fair play, as he is a player who was not registered.

The retro presentation

To formalize his arrival, Betis published a video on their social media that emulates PC Fútbol 5.0, one of the most iconic simulators from the late 90s. It shows how the purchase of Vitor Roque is simulated in manager mode.

The team drew their first two matches in the Spanish tournament and will compete in the Europa Conference League this season. The next match, which could mark the debut of the former Cruzeiro and Athletico Paranaense player in his new jersey, is none other than against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu.
