Alisson stood out as a key player for Liverpool last season as Jurgen Klopp’s side struggled. The Brazilian-born goalkeeper was the strongman of the team, making several crucial saves that saved the honor of the team, whose fragilities were exposed.

Alisson has demonstrated his importance to Liverpool throughout the season and won the Player of the Season award by achieving 17 clean sheets in his 47 appearances in all competitions.

Alisson’s critical importance to Liverpool with 17 clean sheets this season

Despite this, the Brazilian National Team’s number one shirt remains a challenge for Alisson, who finds himself in competition with his Premier League counterpart, Manchester City’s Ederson.

In a statement last week, the Brazilian Football Federation said: “Goalkeeper Alisson suffered a slight trauma to the little finger of his left hand during training on Friday (16) with the Brazilian National Team. Therefore, he will not be able to play against Guinea this Saturday in Barcelona. He woke up with pain in the affected area.”

Due to his injury, Alisson did not participate in the matches against Guinea (4-1 victory) and Senegal (2-4 loss). Ederson was chosen as the goalkeeper for Brazil in those engagements.

There are still no details on the severity of the injury, but it is expected that Alisson will be able to take part in Liverpool’s pre-season commitments from July.
