The latest reports making the rounds is that Bayern Munich defender David Alaba will join Real Madrid on a five-year deal, putting to bed all speculation surrounding his future to an end.
The Austrian was the center of interest from a host of European giants, with the likes of Barcelona, Manchester City and Chelsea all in the race for his signature at one point in time over the past few months.
The latest update comes from Sky Germany, with the outlet reporting that a deal in principle has been agreed. However, there is no official confirmation so far from either side. If everything goes as expected, he should leave the Bavarians once the season ends and join the La Liga giants until the summer of 2026 at least.
Real Madrid have long been interested in Alaba, with the 28-year-old putting clubs on red alert after announcing months ago that he would depart Bayern in search of another challenge come the end of the season. If that isn’t enough, the defender has also spoken about his admiration for Real Madrid severally in the past.
If the reports are legit as said, Alaba will move to Real Madrid with a bulk of title-winning experience on his shoulders. He has just about won every trophy possible in Germany and in Europe.
To further buttress the statement above, Alaba has nine Bundesliga titles, two Champions League triumphs, five DFL-Supercup trophies, six DFB-Pokal titles and two FIFA Club World Cups.
Asides loads of experience and a title-winning pedigree to go with, Alaba will also bring versatility that will come in handy for Real Madrid. The player boasts the ability to play across multiple positions in midfield and defence.
