Brazilian defender Gil completed yesterday (25) important milestone in the history of Corinthians after entering the field against Cuiabá, in which Timão won 1-0. With 437 matches in two spells at the club, the defender equaled Ralf, entering the Top-15 of athletes with the most matches for Timão (check the full list below).
“It’s always good to achieve important milestones at the club and I’m happy for this one. It’s a sign that the day-to-day work is being done well and that taking care to always be available makes a difference in continuing and being able to help,” analyzed Gil.

He provided one assist for the second consecutive game and was elected man of the match during the win.
“I think the most important thing is that everyone donated themselves within what the teacher asked and within the proposal we trained. I was able to contribute with an assist, I even think Romero stole my goal, but it’s good, the important thing is that we won. Not only me, our team, our fans deserve this victory, we need to continue.”
Gil is third in number of games in the 2023 season. With 54 games, he is behind only Cássio (58) and Yuri Alberto (56). In total, Gil has 19 goals scored for Corinthians, being the fourth defender who scored the most for the club, tied with Célio Silva and only behind Grané (49), Chicão (42) and Goiano (22).
At 36 years old, Gil has a contract with Corinthians until the end of this season. In this return to Alvinegro, he could have his second season with more games for the club in 2023. In the first, in 2013, he played 70 games. In 2015 and 2020, there were 57 duels, something that could soon be surpassed, with ten more rounds to be played in the Brasileirão.
