On the night of Thursday, February 29, in front of a packed Maracanã, Fluminense was crowned the champion of the 2024 Recopa after a 2-0 victory over LDU.
This triumph came in the Tricolor’s debut in the tournament, right after winning the CONMEBOL Libertadores in the previous season.
Despite a 1-0 loss in the first leg in Ecuador, the team led by Fernando Diniz reversed the situation at home and secured another unprecedented trophy.

Unprecedented title leaves Flu close to becoming “champion of everything”
Fernando Diniz led Fluminense to another important title after winning the CONMEBOL Libertadores last season.
With two goals from Jhon Arias, the Tricolor das Laranjeiras took another step towards the status of “champion of everything” in Brazil.
Now, the Rio de Janeiro club is aiming for three more trophies to complete its collection: CONMEBOL Sudamericana, Supercopa Rei, and Club World Cup.
This achievement puts Fluminense on par with Atlético-MG, which also needs these three titles to achieve the same feat, previously accomplished only by São Paulo in Brazil after winning the Copa do Brasil and Supercopa consecutively.
