After the end of the season in Thailand, coach Gabriel Magalhães ended his cycle at Chiangrai United FC, a club in the Thai first division. The Brazilian coach was in charge of the team for more than a year and a half, surpassing 50 matches. Through his social media, the coach bid farewell to the team.

“I hereby announce the end of my cycle at Chiangrai United Football Club, from the Thai first division, after a year and a half in charge of the team. I would like to thank the club professionals and the coaching staff who accompanied me during this period, as well as the group of athletes, fans and all the Thai people,” the coach wrote.

At Chiangrai, Magalhães led the team in the 23/24 and 22/23 Thai League Championships, as well as the Thai Cup and the Thai League Cup in the same years. In last season’s Thai Cup, the team reached the quarter-finals, the same stage they reached in the current Thai League Cup. In the Thai League 1 first division, the best campaign was last season, when they reached 5th place.

Career

Born in the state of Rio de Janeiro and holding the CONMEBOL PRO License, Gabriel Magalhães has the PRO, A, B and C licenses from the CBF Academy. In addition to these, he also obtained the Performance Analysis license from the institution, having taken the course in 2016, and the Individual Technique by Position course, which he took through MBP, Spain. Subsequently, he was also an instructor at the CBF Academy on some occasions.

At 40 years old, the coach has over 15 years of experience working in football, acting as an assistant coach in youth categories, professional assistant coach, youth team coach, professional coach and performance analyst.

In Brazil, Gabriel Magalhães has passed through teams such as Fortaleza-CE, Maringá-PR, Brasiliense-DF, Anápolis-GO, Gama-DF, Sampaio Corrêa-MA, among the main ones. He also worked at Corinthians-SP between 2016 and 2020 in the CIFUT (Football Intelligence Center) and in the CADI (Performance Analysis and Information Intelligence Center).

Abroad, he has two stints in Thai football, the first as an assistant coach at Buriram United – the latest Thai League 1 champion – in 2021, and the second as a coach at Chiangrai City in 2022, before moving to Chiangrai United in 2023.
