According to news by the club’s media, Gremio reported on the situation and revealed that the infected player in question has so far been asymptomatic (showed no symptoms whatsoever) and has already taken to self-isolation as per the standard protocol.
Before the new test came positive, Grêmio only just brought back two players that just recovered recently from cases of Covid-19. Ahead of the resumption of Gauchão, both of those players were tested once again and their results came back negative.
The Gaúcha Football Federation usually carries out tests every weekend as part of the protocol for the restart of the Gaúcho Championship. Samples of athletes, coaching staffs and other employees of the football club were collected.
So far, Gremio have taken a total of 568 coronavirus tests since the start of training in early May. Three recent positive cases at the club could be linked to Diego Souza who was already positive before going on to join his teammates when training resumed.
The Grêmio team has been wholly directed since last Monday for their game against Internacional. This Tuesday morning, Renato supported the last work for the classic at CT Luiz Carvalho. The group played a game of relaxation, the traditional split on the eve of the matches.
The Grêmio team still made their scheduled travel to Caxias do Sul on Tuesday. The Gre-Nal clash will be played at the Centenary stadium on Thursday. Grêmio leads Group B with nine points after three rounds played.
