Barcelona have confirmed that the Brazilian midfielder will join Juventus in a €72 million deal, in line with recent rumors that surfaced about the Brazilian’s exit.
Arthur joined the club from Gremio in 2018 and has turned out 72 times in total for the Camp Nou side. That includes 28 appearances in all competitions this season, during which he has scored all four of his goals for the club.
Barcelona released a statement on their website confirming the deal and that he would remain at the club until the end of the season.
Head coach Quique Setien recently hailed the midfielder and said he was still counting on him this season despite his imminent departure.
Arthur was seen giving his teammates a speech in training which was dubbed to be his farewell speech.
The Brazilian now has a chance to end his time with the Catalan giants on a high if he can be on sync as they chase Real Madrid for the La Liga title this term.
In the same vein, the club also confirmed the signing of Miralem Pjanic from Juventus in a deal that could rise to be worth €65 million in total.
Following the departure of Arthur Melo from the club, Barcelona also announced the signing of Pjanic from Juventus.
Not officially confirmed as one but in theory it would mean Barcelona and Juventus engaged in a swap-deal between both players.
Pjanic has now signed a deal with Barcelona for the next four seasons. Quite interesting in the deal is that it includes a release clause of a whopping €400 million as per the club’s website.
The midfielder will remain at Juventus for the rest of the campaign, however, with the Bosnian continuing on through the club’s Serie A and Champions League campaigns.
Pjanic heads to La Liga after four seasons with Juventus, having joined the Serie A champions from Roma in 2016.
Since he joined the club in the summer of 2017, the 30-year-old has featured 171 times for the Bianconeri, scoring 22 times and supplying 36 assists.
