The deal to sign the Brazilian is already in its final stages and it’s believed there could be an official announcement over the coming days.
As per the reports in circulation, Marrony would cost Atletico R $ 18 million and the club would be entitled to 70% of the player’s economic rights.
Earlier today, the 21-year-old forward did not take part in Vasco’s training and the developing story is that the forward has been permitted to complete his transfer to Atletico. However, Vasco’s press office claim that the Brazilian was only absent because he underwent ‘specific’ exams with other players.
The Alvinegro are yet to comment on the transfer story but it has claimed that Marrony would join his new side in a five-year-deal.
According to close sources linked to the striker, the 21-year-old is expected in Belo Horizonte on Monday. As per the reported agreement between both clubs, the player could perform his medicals in Cidade do Galo on Friday and could then go on to sign an official contract with the club.
Further details on the transfer claim that Atletico and Vasco agreed a transfer fee days ago but saw the agreement stall due to disparities over the method of payment.
In addition to that, Marrony still had overdue wages to receive from Vasco and had to wait for his representatives to settle with the Rio club.
Throughout his stay at Vasco, the 21-year-old featured in 74 matches, scoring ten goals. The potential sale of the forward has not gone down well with Vasco fans who have protested against it on social media.
Marrony’s signing would see him become the fifth addition since the arrival of Jorge Sampaoli. Under the Argentine, the club has also signed Léo Sena, Alan Franco, Bueno and Junior Alonso.
The 21-year-old joins Atletico with a big reputation on his name and his announcement could be done as early as Friday, claims reports.
