The 18-year-old has been dubbed the next ‘Cristiano Ronaldo’ due to his exciting style of play.
Kaio Jorge is already one of the brightest young prospects in South American football having scored seven goals in 11 appearances for Brazil’s Under-17 squad.
Back in March, Santos president Jose Carlos Peres disclosed that Juventus were in pole position to land the teenager and were already in talks over a potential €30m.
“It is not a secret that there is interest, but I don’t want to be caught off guard. If the right offers do not arrive within a deadline that we will establish, we will keep him until the end of the season.”
“Juventus asked about him, but made no formal offer. I told them his release clause is €75m, but we are open to negotiation. We were discussing closer to €30m, but not just with Juve.”
However, financial implications from the coronavirus pandemic has seen the Turin outfit cool their interest in Kaio Jorge.
And now, German outlet Kicker report that Chelsea could capitalize on that and move in to sign the Brazilian this summer.
The West London side will also have to battle competition from Bayer Leverkusen who are also monitoring the situation of Kaio Jorge.
Chelsea might have some advantages that could put them in pole position to land the pacey teenager.
Firstly, the Blues have a relationship with Kaio Jorge’s agent, Giuliano Bertolucci, who is also the agent of former Chelsea stars David Luiz and Oscar.
Secondly and perhaps the most important advantage held by the Blues is their affinity for young players.
Blues boss Frank Lampard has already shown his willingness to trust young players and that alone could convince Jorge he might stand a chance of some regular game-time at Stamford Bridge.
Jorge is still under contract with Santos until 2022 but the Brazilian side will be happy to sell their prized asset if a reasonable offer comes in.
