1980’s Brazil striker Casagrande was in stable condition in intensive care on Wednesday after being hospitalized with a heart condition.

Casagrande, one of Brazil’s strikers during the 1986 World Cup in Mexico, was rushed to a Sao Paulo hospital on Tuesday with low blood pressure and an irregular heartbeat, the Albert Einstein Hospital said in a statement.

Doctors were conducting tests and monitoring Casagrande’s condition, the hospital said. It wasn’t immediately clear how long he would remain hospitalized.

The 43-year-old Casagrande, whose full name is Walter Casagrande Jr., was one of the greatest stars of powerhouse Corinthians in the 1980s. He later played for Portugal’s Porto, Brazil’s Flamengo and Italy’s Ascoli and Torino, which he won the Italian Cup with in 1993.

Casagrande was working as a TV commentator in Brazil.
