Substitute Luiz Adriano secured Internacional’s place in the final of the Fifa Club World Championship.

Adriano scored late in the second half to lead the Brazil side to a 2-1 win over Egypt’s Al Ahly in the semi-finals in Tokyo.

His 72nd-minute near-post header from Ceara’s corner proved the winner.

Inter gave prodigious 17-year-old Alexandre, fast gaining fame under his nickname Alex the Duck, only his second start for the club following an astonishing 57-minute debut last month. He repaid the faith by putting Internacional ahead before Flavio equalized in the 54th minute for the African champions.

Internacional will now face the winner of Thursday’s semi-final between European champions Barcelona and Mexico’s Club America.
