Brazil thrashed arch-rivals Argentina 4-1 with a superb display making them Confederations Cup, Copa America and World Champions.

It took Brazil just 11 minutes to break the deadlock, as Adriano took a pass from right back Cicinho before reaching the edge of Argentina’s box and hammering a superb left foot strike past the Argentinian goalkeeper German Lux.

They doubled their lead five minutes later, Robinho played in Kaka and his excellent right foot shot left Lux frozen on his line for 2-0.

The second-half was only 60 seconds old when Brazil got its third after a Kaka picked out Cicinho on the right wing, the defender crossing to Ronaldinho who flicked the ball past Lux.

Brazil was by this stage toying with its opponent, and it was only a matter of time before it added a fourth, Adriano sending a thumping header past Lux. Giving the Inter striker the tournament’s Golden Boot award.

Substitute Pablo Aimar scored a consolation goal for Argentina with a diving header after 65 minutes. But it was too little to late for Argentina to stage any sort of come back.

The result went some way to wiping the memory of Brazil’s 3-1 WC Qualifier defeat to Argentina in Buenos Aires last month.
