Arsenal Coach Arsene Wenger fuelled speculation on Saturday that Robinho is heading to Arsenal and not Real Madrid as was widely expected.
During an interview with the English press he hinted that Arsenal were in negotiations with a South American team over a ‘World Class’ player.
Wenger is a known fan of Robinho and has been to watch him play in the Confederations Cup games in Germany. This is said to have prompted him to offer Santos $25Million, way more than the $15Million Real Madrid are offering.
Santos had hoped to hold out and get $30Million for their star player. But Arsenal’s offer could prove to good to refuse.
Robinho himself has publically spoken of his wish to play for Madrid but Madrid will need to up their offer if they are to succeed in capturing international football’s hottest player.
