Brazil are through to the final of the Confederations Cup after beating the host nation Germany 2-3.

Brazil took the lead in the first half thanks to a fine Adriano free kick, Germany responded minutes later. Next it was a Ronaldinho penalty, again Germany quickly replied. Eventually it was Adriano who broke the deadlock and confirmed Brazil’s passage into the tournament final in Frankfurt on Wednesday.

Adriano scored in the 21st and 76th minutes, and Ronaldinho converted the penalty kick in the 42nd after Robert Huth pushed Adriano over.

Germany got goals from Lukas Podolski on a header in 23rd minute and Michael Ballack on a penalty kick in first-half injury time after being fouled.

“We had to show our skill and technique but more than this, we showed courage,” Parreira told the journalist at the after game press conference.

“It was wonderful to play Germany in what was like a final. It was a meeting of two different schools, with Germany showing more strength and us showing more skill on the ground.

“We’re very happy to be in the final and I’m very satisfied with the performance. It was a mental game out there too and I think we won the mental battle.”

Brazil will meet either Mexico or Argentina in the final, both of which have defeated Brazil recently (Mexico 1-0 Confed Cup, 3-1 Argentina WC Qualifiers) so Brazil will be out for revenge.
