Brazil lost their second game of the Confederations cup, against Mexico on Sunday 1-0.

Jared Borgetti, who missed a first half penalty despite re-taking it three times, scored the winner with a glancing header in the 59th-minute header.

The first half saw Brazil dominate possession but the Selecao looked tired and a shadow of the team that beat Greece last week.

The first half started with Brazil launching attack after a attack. But were unable to penetrate the Mexican goal. Robinho step overs made an number of openings but his shooting was unable to match control.

Mid-way through the half Roque Junior was adjudged to have fouled Borgetti six yards out. Borgetti stepped up to the penalty spot and scored – only for the referee to order a retake for encroachment. His next effort struck the cross bar but Dida was adjudged to have moved off his line. Borgetti’s third effort, was

saved by Dida.

In the second half Mexico started to attack. Defending a corner Roque Junior misjudged the flight of the ball and Borgetti was left to head past a stranded Dida.

Brazil tried to continue the attack but looked tired and lethargic. The win means Mexico have qualified out of the group and that Brazil need to win their last game against Japan (Wednesday) to get a semi-final place.
